Animal Resort

Hey guys!!

I went to the animal resort that day with my friend Whitney. I saw a post on The Smart Local that named it a kampung zoo, and well, that was not inaccurate.

Doesn’t it look like a kampung?

I was quite excited because being the pretentious hipster I aspire to be, I liked vintage things and also they had ducks, which if you know me, is one of my favorite animals. Also, it was free so, I had nothing to lose.

Anyway, getting there is one of the most tiresome experiences ever. We took a bus that was supposed to bring us to a bus stop that was less than a km away from the place. But when we alighted, we saw that the walk there was actually quite insane so we took a cab (as per recommended by TSL) but even the cab couldn’t find the place. Thank goodness for my, fine, our superb navigational skills, we managed to find a place, which was a 30min walk from the bus stop. (After talking to the Auntie manning the place, she told us the road our cab took was the old road, which has been closed off now. So, take the new road if you’re planning to head down there.)

The Animal Resort was started up to provide the experiences of Singapore back in the days, where kampungs (or villages) were aplenty and everyone had animals running around pretty much in their backyard. It is a pity that such sights are quite a rarity these days, so it is nice to see such places still exist. This nostalgic spot is a great place for your kids to interact with animals and experience what olden Singapore was like.

Admission is free and there is feed for sale. They all go at 3 for $2, with the exception of the horse hay, which is $1. I got the stale bread, fish food and rabbit/guinea pig food.

Ducks waddling in the pond.

There were many birds and the moment they notice you have food in your hand, they will make their way towards you.  You are encouraged to feed them off your hands, which can be quite scary at first but the animals are all really gentle and won’t hurt you.

This might actually be the first time I’ve seen a horse up close, which I didn’t realize till I was well, close up to the horse. There is a sign at the side that says to be careful as he will bite but he was very friendly and allowed us to pet him so it was fine, actually.

Ducks running away from me.

I had initially planned to carry a duck but they kept running away..

Nearing the end, a herd of geese came out from hiding, out of nowhere, made loud noises and walked all over the place.

I realize now that the place consists of mostly birds, but I didn’t manage to snap a picture of all the animals. There were also cute little quails but they weren’t very active when I went. I also read that there’s a crown crane but I didn’t manage to chance upon it.

All in all, it was quite a fun experience. Do check it out if you have time. The place isn’t huge so you should be done in an hour or two.

hello it’s me (not in the tune of adele)

I finally got a blog of some sort. I always had blogs but never really kept them up for more than a few weeks. But I guess I need something to keep my mind from overthinking. I do like writing stuff so this only makes sense. I am usually quite rambly so I am going to work towards making this less pointless, senseless and more purposeful.

I have many things in mind for this blog. I’m talking recipes, other food related stuff, social issues, societal issues, music, entertainment and more obnoxious content you might not care about.

I am optimistic and am hoping that this blog will be read by more than just my (small) circle of friends, so I will do an introduction now to kick off this blog.

My name is Kenneth, I turn 20 in April 2016. I love many things, one of which is tea, hence the logo. I think I only recently started really loving tea. I say recent, but I really mean like 2 years ago. But tea is really quite therapeutic for me and I drink it pretty much anytime; when I’m sleepy, when I’m excited, when I’m sad, when I’m happy, you get it. I try to drink at least 2 cups a day but most of the time laziness kicks in. (too lazy to put a teabag in a cup and pour hot water on it? Clearly I have a problem..)

Another thing I quite like is music. I like listening to music, not so much making it though, mostly due to a lack of talent. Some of my favourite bands (of all time) include Kodaline, Walk The Moon, Walking on Cars and twenty one pilots, of which three of which I’ve seen live, very blessed and grateful. But anyway, I find a lot of joy in finding new music that I like, and I will check out all the songs from the artiste and shove them in everyone’s faces. If you know me irl, you’d know.

Besides tea and music, I also have a passion for food. I started cooking mostly as a solution for lack of food but some time around secondary school, I started baking and have never really stopped since. One of my goals in life is to open a bakery or café someday. I’m aware it’s not going to be easy so it isn’t going to be anytime soon, unfortunately. But I’m going to work towards making it happen.

One of my other lifelong dreams is to be on ‘Glee’ but well; the show has ended so we’ll just keep our fingers crossed for a revival. As you might be able to tell, I am quite optimistic, which I try hard to be because I feel there is always a brighter side to every situation.

I shall stop before I continue waffling. Oh right I should probably talk about my handle. Kehhnough is pronounced Kenneth. Kehh as in care with a silent r. nough as in e-nough. Mindlessly came up with it years back, made it my handle for everything. It’s unique and sucks less than my previous handle so I do quite like it.

If you’ve made it this far, you clearly have a high level of tolerance for subpar content so I extend my gratitude. Please check back for more. I’m trying not to go too deep into anything so you’ll just have to learn more about me as time goes by. I’ll try to post at least once a week. So, till next week, byeeee.
